House Reef Indonesia diving in south Sulawesi Selayar Island

Our House Reef can easily be ranked as amongst one of the best dive sites in Indonesia! For divers who want to make more than the two daily boat dives we offer unlimited House Reef diving from our 145 meter long jetty. Our jetty has high and low ladders to make entries and exits easy and it is just a few meters from the drop off. The reef top surrounding the jetty also offers some stunning macro opportunities with everything from sea grass to small bommies and a whole host of marine critters. The House Reef runs almost the length of the resort but we have yet to have anyone explore the entire area – the wall is so densely packed with life that you do not need to swim so far and getting bored with the House Reef is just not an option!

House Reef Diving – Diving the House Reef? A highlight? Yes, absolutely!

Selayar Dive Resort offers unlimited House Reef diving – and our House Reef is not just your average House Reef dive site – from the end of our 145 meter private jetty we have a stunning drop off, spectacular corals, turtles, sea snakes, nudibranch, gorgonian fans, pygmy sea horses and a host of reef fishes to keep you enthralled dive after dive. Our House Reef can easily be ranked as one of the best House Reefs in Indonesia!
It’s possible to dive to either side of the jetty and both sites have steep rugged walls with many sea fans, soft corals and a range of reef fish and macro life.

Along the upper section of the wall are many shelves and caverns which are popular places for both green turtles and huge spiny lobsters that reside here. The huge sea fans which adorn the walls are also home to pygmy seahorses and allied cowries. On deeper sections of the House Reef we often see marble sting rays and eagle rays as well as grey and white tip reef sharks!
Our house reefs also make perfect places for snorkellers to explore; when snorkelling (or diving) the House Reef you can enter the water from the jetty or by swimming directly from the beach in front of your bungalow.
House Reef night diving is not to be missed – there are huge lobsters scampering across the reef top, sleeping turtles and a host of incredible nocturnal critters to fascinate you.
If you want to experience House Reef diving in Sulawesi then Selayar is the place to come!

This is where we usually go for our first dive or check dive to give you the opportunity to make sure that your weights are correct and your gear is working just as you like it. The site is a steep rugged wall with many sea fans, soft corals and a range of reef fish and macrolife. Along the upper section of the wall are many shelves and caverns which are popular places for both green turtles and the huge spiny lobsters that reside here. This site is also an excellent night diving site with plenty of crustaceans and nocturnal creatures – we also dive this site when Fluoro diving which reveals an entirely different reef scene which is bursting with fluorescent colours and lights. Both of our house reefs also make perfect places for snorkelers to explore the underwater world; when snorkelling at the House Reef you can enter the water from the jetty or by swimming directly from the beach in front of your bungalow.

House Reef diving left

Whether left or right, there is always something to marvel at! Here we also have a drop off which is both beautiful and right in front of our jetty! There are many small caves and crevices to look into for a range of macro life including shrimps, nudibranch and shade dwellers. At night there are an abundance of smaller creatures, larger lobsters and dwarf peacock lion fish to admire. The House Reef is also our favourite site for Fluoro Diving where the reef is brought to life in a range of neon colours!
